The cheapest tee time is the one you book direct

Every "GolfNow alternatives" list eventually admits the same thing in the last bullet: to really skip the fees, book directly with the course. That advice is right — here's why, and how to make it as easy as the apps.
Why direct wins
- No convenience fees. Marketplace checkout fees pay the middleman, not the course. Direct bookings simply don't have them.
- The good rates live off the big apps. Local loyalty programs, twilight walking rates, junior deals — courses keep their best offers for their own channels, because marketplace slots often cost them inventory.
- You become the course's customer. Loyalty points, first crack at member events, a pro shop that knows your name — that relationship only builds when the course, not a platform, owns the booking.
- Your money supports the course. Fee-free direct revenue mows fairways; middleman margins don't.
How to book direct, today
- Check the course's own website for a booking page — many have one.
- Call the pro shop. Thirty seconds, and often the best rate you'll find.
- If the course is on Guulf, its direct channel is an app: the live tee sheet, one-tap booking with your saved playing partners, split the green fee by link, food to your tee — and a GPS rangefinder and scorecard for the round itself. Free for golfers, forever, no booking fees.
Course not on Guulf yet? The app's rangefinder and
scorecard still work on any course on earth — and you can nominate your home course
from the Me tab. Courses join at
guulfai.com/?join; the owner tools pay for everything so golfers
never do.
